Guardian Angels In Halifax

A chapter of the citizen watch dog group "Guardian Angels" could one day begin here in Halifax. The group hires unarmed, trained citizens to confront violent criminals head on. They make citizen arrests, break up fights and aid police in charging criminals. Sounds like the job of a police officer with no pay.
If people seriously want a local chapter of this group, why not lobby for more law enforcement who can make the arrest themselves? The Guardian Angels may be a great group of individuals, however their three month training program would not prepare them for everything that they see on the streets.
Having unpaid citizens patrol the streets in cars however, is a great idea. It give some sort of protection from the crime and avoids confrontation. Asking people to volunteer for crime fighting would be like asking citizens to volunteer for a war effort. There is simply to much danger and it should be handled by professionals.
