Tempers Boils At Burnside Jail
Due to the lack of space, all jails in Nova Scotia are going to be double bunking inmates. The cells, which were designed for one person mostly, will now house two criminals at both the Burnside and the Central Nova Scotia facilities. All other jails will transfer inmates to the double bunked facilities to lower the pressure on their staff.
The inmates at the Burnside jail are obviously not happy about this decision and are threatening to tear the building apart. The guards in the jail are in a bad situation if this happens since their staff has not been doubled, in fact they have been asking for more staff for years now.
As far as I am concerned they could triple bunk these criminals and I still wouldn't care. Make jail as unpleasant as possible and maybe they will think twice about committing another crime. If that is the plan however, there needs to be adequate staff on hand to keep the peace inside. Not only for the safety of the guards, but for the safety of the public. If a riot were to occur at the Burnside jail there is no telling the consequences.

(Unnamed guard in the Chronicle Herald)Since this information has now hit the newspapers, all inmates are aware of the uprising. This could reach a boiling point before the jail is able to react.

Actually Anonymous, you are being quite judgemental yourself here. I never claimed that all these people were guilty. I am fully aware that innocent people do end up in jail at times, but that does not justify giving prisioners a luxery stay.
This article was about the need for more guards in our system. That would have been a huge benifit to your situation with the heart pills. More staff is needed to solve the burn out problem you have mentioned.
The only comment I made is that I could care less if people were tripple bunked in jails as long as there are staff available to handle the inmates. This is an opinion which you are free to disagree with. Everything else you talk about is your judgement of me when as far as I know we have never met.

judgemental **** you are, I hope your creator is as wise and forgiving as you are on judgement day when the time comes to judge you just as harshly, not everyone there is in for molesting and murder, some are there for doing a small crime and then getting caught up in the money making system that starts at the police officer and ends at the contract farmers may have to supply the milk to the jail......more inmates-more money and more constituents that can be counted in that riding without a vote.Before you go putting your uninformed,naive and narrow minded opinion out here for all to read, consider this"hypothetically a close friend or family member gets into some trouble they are not guilty of, then are remanded until a bail hearingfor the usual 5-7 day wait and get bail......because obviously they would get bail if their charges are not too bad or the case seems loose and full of holes, but this innocent person who you love happens to be there waiting to get out on bail, then a riot breaks out and that loved one gets murdered and I can tell you for sure it would never be solved as corrections and the heath care at CNSCF regularly murder people on the guise that they thought that they were faking chest pains or med seeking . The staff doesn;t do this intentionally, most of them are just burned out and like most of society think these jailbirds are all liers and cracked out so they just quit caring after a year or so working corrections........I've seen it first hand through a friend of a friend, would you want your mom or dad double bunked because of a domestic yelling match that gets really loud but not violent, only to spend the weekend sharing a tiny concrete box with god knows what the **** the other inmate did.....wake up, have some heart and don,t be so unwise as to speak about something unless you have been there......like I have and someone smashed my nose in with a dinner tray because he thought my heart pills were something I was getting a buzz from, so I told him that I would get charged with manslaughter "if" I gave him my heart meds and he died because of this no reasoning with 85% of the antisocial personality disorder ridden crowd that thinks it's cool to be there cause they are all gangsta and **** off of BET......trust me I didn;t mean to insult you but not everyone there is guilty, most are waiting for bail or trial and me now I can;t see well enough to fly commercially anymore as the tray got my eye as well and getting up and kicking 11 of his teeth out to stop the torment of being hounded for bloody heart meds has gotten me an assault charge I was supposed to finish my clinical clerkship,intern then only 2 years more of residency all because someone accused me of stealing narcotics from the hospital until they caught on that it didn;t stop once I was Suspended and they put a hidden camera on the Narcotic cabnet(safe) and caught 2 nurses who were common law lovers working togrther doing it all, so they dropped all charges on me except for fighting back to prevent a blow to my brainstem area by turning and walking away, psychotic ****** got it in his head that all pills are psycoactive and was hell bent on getting the pills or killing me so he could get a name in prison for killing someone nearly old enough to be his father......no reconsider what you write and articulate how you feel about the social inept not everyone out there 10-15% are great guys who just made a mistake were fingered and then framed so the real criminal can get offf almost scott free by becoming a police snitch......the Justicee in Canada is harsh you really are guilty first with the onus on you to straighten things out against a police force that's got a one track mind once they think they have the right person(come on most of these guys and girls have grade 12 and a 1-2 year course and they can alter you life forever if they have their heart convinced about who is guilty they stop looking and go one track mind......lets get the lingo down to screw thyis perp as hard as we can.........goddamn college boy how'd ya like tryin to get you canadian registration to practice, let alone find a school that will let you finish and then I'm outta here back to scottland where I started......please have a meditative praayer or something or maybe you are very young and I;m too hard on you, but we are all judged by our own standards come that day you meet you creator. ciao
You know what who ever wrote this is a freaking idiot! You don't know the people in there, they are good people and you have no right to say what you said... and bryan is right you are being judgmental of the people in there, my fiance is in there and he is one of the sweetest people i have ever met! you don't have any right to say what you do! Maybe one day you will end up in there for somethin you have done, and you will realise why they do the things they did, people do what they have to to survive, they don't all have money pooring out of their asses!
